Some of San Francisco's best chefs donned their finest for the James Beard gala Monday night in Chicago, but not a single one took home an award.

Instead, Los Angeles was the big winner of the night, taking home awards for Outstanding Chef (Suzanne Goins of Lucques), Outstanding Pastry Chef (Dahlia Narvaez of Osteria Mozza), and Best Chef West (Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo of Animal).

While there's no denying San Francisco's culinary prowess over the past couple years, it seems the limelight may have shifted down state. Oh well, there's always next year.
