Poised at the top of Nob Hill, the iconic Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel is a piece of San Francisco history with classical architecture, stellar views, and the familiar sounds of cable cars passing the grand entrance.

The place feels designed for photo ops, which makes it a particularly popular destination for couples looking to get married in classic SF style.

For every wedding at the Mark Hopkins, a team of expert local vendors comes together to create an intimate, luxurious experience inspired by the city.

"One of the best reasons to love San Francisco is its value of inclusivity," says Christine Eng, the wedding coordinator also known as the WeddEng Boss. "I look to diversity and appreciate the richness of different backgrounds in all talents, from the florist to the candy maker to the stationer," she says.

When considering just where exactly to hold the rehearsal dinner, ceremony or reception, couples will first ride the elevator up to the Mark Hopkins' 18th floor, which is home to two luxury suites with nearly 100 years of SF stories to tell. The penthouse is dressed in rich mahogany and antique furnishings and has views of downtown and the bay. Across the way is the California suite, which has a soft, romantic allure thanks to its ornate architecture and marble fireplace, beautiful furnishings, and sunset light coming through arched windows that overlook the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you prefer to say "I do" outside, the terrace in the opulent Mark Hopkins suite is the ideal location for small alfresco nuptials. Only the simplest of garlands are needed to enhance this space where the SF skyline doubles as decor and provides the perfect backdrop for live painter Talia Koval to capture your special moment.

For larger celebrations, the Room of the Dons is a posh setting with 26-foot ceilings, a towering arched window draped in silk brocade, and vibrant murals depicting scenes of early California including one of Queen Calafia and her Amazons set against a gold leaf sky. The Peacock Court ballroom, with its intricate plasterwork ceiling and crystal sconces, sets a magical stage for dinner and dancing.

Of course, much of the wedding magic is in the details, and the Mark Hopkins offers turnkey service with the help of acclaimed local artisans, photographers, florists, and more. Here vibrant yellow florals with hints of mint leaves (taking a sunny note from Pantone's vibrant yellow color of the year, Illuminating) were designed by Verde SF. A macaron tower created by Artisan Macaron added a sense of fun and whimsy to the rich, historic space. Craft cocktails using hand-squeezed lemonade from Gourmonade set a fresh, light tone for the celebration.

When it comes time to dine, guests will be seated at thoughtfully set tables with classic flatware and traditional silver Mark Hopkins base plates, with the option of name cards penned in classic calligraphy script. Dinner, made with locally sourced ingredients, is curated and prepared by Mark Hopkins' executive chef Chad Bayless.

Once the vows have been exchanged and party favors given out, sumptuous suites await the newlyweds.
