On November 5 Seattle-based forager (and blogger) Langdon Cook, author of the new book Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager, will be at Omnivore Books for a free signing from 6-7 p.m. Come with your questions, but don’t expect him to disclose his secret porcini mushroom hunting grounds.

The Raw and the Cooked

Get out of town this weekend for PRIMAL Napa, a one-day outdoor gathering of butchers and chefs on November 7 (including Chris Cosentino, Ryan Farr, Taylor Boetticher and more). The day begins with butchering demonstrations, followed by a day of live-fire grilling fueled by excellent Napa wines, cocktails prepared by the Alembic’s Daniel Hyatt, oysters and a bacon bar. Boutique Beer

The beer dinner on November 8 promises to be epic—Sierra Nevada and Dogfish have teamed up to create a very special beer, “Life and Limb.” To celebrate its release, Ken Grossman of Sierra and Sam Calagione of Dogfish will be co-hosting a five-course French-Vietnamese dinner at Ana Mandara, complemented by eight different beers (and two hand-pulled cask firkins—one of Life and Limb, the other Limb and Life). The extravaganza begins at 5 p.m. and tickets are $100.

Sherry Baby

Our friend the tablehopper, fresh from her trip to Spain, will be hosting a sherry tasting on November 10 at the Stable Café. Your ticket will entitle you a crash course tasting of all different types of sherry, led by César Saldaña, head of Spain’s sherry council of Spain. You’ll also enjoy cocktails prepared by Nopa bartender Neyah White and Spain-inspired snacks alongside—as well as an opportunity to hobnob with Ms. Hopper herself! Bubbles and Fins
