Wedding Inspiration: A Traditional Church Ceremony With a Posh Museum Afterparty
12 September 2018
After a bit of courtship and eight lovely years together, Rodriguez got a half-sleeve tattoo depicting koi fish swimming among cherry blossoms—never mind that he's not the floral-loving type. But when the two took a trip to Kyoto, they found themselves in a park blooming with cherry blossoms. He asked, "Did I ever tell you the reason I got cherry blossoms in my tattoo?..."
For the big day, the lovebirds returned to the church on USF campus where they had met and graduated. Soaring ceilings and ornate architectural details made for a stunning ceremony site. Then, it was time to celebrate; they took buses—complete with dancing poles to get the party started—over to the Asian Art Museum.
They held cocktail hour among the museum's tall marble columns, drawn by the grand windows and glittering chandelier. Deep hues of bordeaux, ruby, blush, gold, and black created a romantic palette; and gilded silverware, gold-rimmed plates, and stylish name cards dressed the tables. A touch of greenery—sprigs of eucalyptus and bountiful blooms—brought the place to life.
A large party of family and friends made for a fierce afterparty, but the bride and groom shared plenty intimate moments. "During our first dance, it felt like it was only us in the room—it was such a beautiful magical moment."
