By

Esa-Pekka Salonen is bringing epic masterworks to Davies Symphony Hall in his final concerts as music director of the San Francisco Symphony.

In the first performance, Salonen will lead the orchestra in Stravinsky’s fierce The Firebird (May 23-25) . Next, May 29-June 1, violin star Hilary Hahn will play a blazingly beautiful all-Beethoven program. June 6-8, Salonen will conduct Sibelius’ compact yet expressive Symphony No. 7. Finally, listen as Salonen takes up the baton for the last time this season in Mahler’s transcendent Symphony No. 2, June 12-14.

// Salonen Conducts The Firebird, May 23–25; Esa-Pekka Salonen & Hilary Hahn, May 29–Jun 1; Salonen Conducts Sibelius 7, Jun 6–8; and Salonen Conducts Mahler 2, Jun 12–14 at Davies Symphony Hall, 201 Van Ness Ave. (Civic Center); tickets are available at sfsymphony.org.
