Sherri McMullen’s gorgeous new brick-and-mortar adds a shot of high style to Presidio Heights’ Sacramento Street.

Plus, Freda Salvador is celebrating all things fall footwear with a slew of events at its Fillmore store. Zenni pays tribute to late friend and frequent collaborator Iris Apfel with a colorful eyewear collection, and beloved clothing and home label Erica Tanov pops up at 1 Hotel next week.

Fashion force Sherri McMullen just opened her second Bay Area boutique in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights. No doubt, McMullen’s teenage Oakland brick-and-mortar (and perennial Vogue darling) is thrilled to have a sibling on the other side of the bridge. Ditto for city shoppers enthralled by McMullen’s singular global fashion eye, commitment to emerging and BIPOC designers (i.e., Christopher John Rogers, Diotima and Zankov), and desire to connect with customers and community.

The mingling of established brands—think Proenza Schouler, Dries Van Noten, Tibi and The Row—with local labels like Kamperett and Harwell Godfrey are also key to the store’s allure.

For McMullen, having a space in the city is a dream come true: “San Francisco holds a special place in my heart, as it was my home when I first moved to the Bay Area over 20 years ago. Expanding our footprint here feels like a full-circle moment.” she says.

When it came time to transform the blank-slate Victorian building, McMullen turned to insanely talented Noz Nozawa for her inspired interior design. “It was important for me to work with a local interior designer and a woman of color who understands the vibrancy of San Francisco,” McMullen says.

Together the pair created a magical vibe where gems from Nozawa’s Corbett Lighting collection highlight a neutral palate with sophisticated vintage furnishings in a mix of rich textures. Lording over the dressing rooms? A gobsmacking portrait of the store’s namesake by Oakland artist Taylor Smalls.

At once luxurious and inviting, the space is tailormade for trying on diaphanous dresses, deliciously sumptuous knits, and commanding coats with the coolest details.

Over in Freda Salvador Land, it’s officially loafer season…not to mention wallabee, boot, and ballet flat season. On Wednesday September 4th, the local brand drops scrumptious styles from its second fall release, which includes new and signature styles in fresh shades and lush textures like suede and patent leather.

Naturally, FS founders Megan Papay and Cristina Palomo Nelson are excited for customers to see the newbies in real life and are celebrating with a host of upcoming events at the Fillmore Street store:

  • Penny Loafer Monogramming Event. Freda's friend Eve Pranzo will be doing complimentary custom monogramming with every loafer purchases. Already have a pair? Bring ’em in and put a new stamp on them; 2pm to 5pm, Sunday Sept. 8 and Saturday Sept. 21.
  • Freda on Fillmore Turns 1 Party. To celebrate the store’s first birthday, cool L.A. brand Le Superbe will be popping up. There will be sips from Sophie James and lots of shopping and good vibes. Can’t make the party? Le Superbe wares will be available through the weekend; 5pm to 7pm Thursday Sept. 12.
  • A celebration of FS x Creative Growth, co-hosted by Erica Chan Coffman of Honestly WTF. FS teamed up with Creative Growth, an Oakland-based non-profit dedicated to representing artists with developmental disabilities, to create one-of-a-kind sneakers, totes and artworks. This special evening will be brimming with art and fashion—and some of the artists will be on hand too; 6pm to 8pm, Thursday Sept. 19.

Zenni’s new eyewear collection celebrates the amazing life and (fashion) times of the late Iris Apfel.

In honor of what would have been Iris Apfel’s 103rd birthday, Zenni launched the Iconic Elegance collection. The inimitable New Yorker, who passed away earlier this year, was known for her colorful, creative, bold style and love of pattern mixing. Her signature uniform: wearing stacks upon stacks of beads, baubles and bracelets—and overly oversized “bug” glasses.

The Novato-based retailer and the white-haired centenarian collaborated on myriad collections over the years. But this final fabulous tribute, which came together in partnership with the Apfel estate, truly captures the bon vivant’s infectious spirit, maximalist aesthetic, and commitment to individuality.

There are 20 styles in the collection, both new frames and a selection of Apfel favorites from previous releases. Every pair of glasses and sunnies sells for under $50. We’re all for viewing the world through Iris-colored glasses (especially this Beachy Keen pair).

For three decades, stylish women have been devoted to and repeat-wearing ET's timeless silhouettes. Inspired by nature and laid-back California living, the designs are meticulously crafted of luxe natural materials in always-available signature colors plus limited-edition hues. Swoon.
