Wedding Inspiration: Somethings Blue at a historic country chapel in Placer County

It was the sweetness of Old St. Mary's Chapel, in the Placer County town of Rocklin, that drew Stephanie Peres and Michael O'Connor.

Nestled in the historic Quarry District and built in 1883, the quaint church with tall, arched windows was beautifully restored in the early 2000s with teal velvet upholstery on the wooden pews and chandeliers overhead. On top, a bell is rung when couples say "I do."

Peres and O'Connor's families came together to create this wedding's decor by hand. They designed all the floral arrangement in a bold blue and white palette (which also matched the groomsmen's attire). With matching bouquets in hand, the bridal party wore sea foam green floor-length frocks.

The wedding arch was sawed and polished specially for their big day and personalized with their last names and the date. Perched atop were blooms bursting from the corners as well as hanging down to form a romantic backdrop for the ceremony. Tulle and hanging florals floated from one row of pews to another forming an enchanting aisle.

Leaving the country setting behind after the ceremony, the party made its way to the Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis to kick off the reception. In a departure from the quaint ambiance of the old chapel, Blue Goose takes on an industrial aesthetic, clad in steel and wood. Personal touches included DIY table arrangements in the same indigo hue and even a three-tiered homemade cake complete with swans and handmade roses. String lights overhead topped off the sense of romantic charm.
