Cannabis connoisseurs and occasional tokers, today is the post-Easter holiday you've been waiting for. To help you narrow down the search of parties dedicated to your favorite herb, we've created a list of San Francisco events to hit (pun totally intended).
4/20 @ Hippie Hill
This annual group smoke-out at GGP's Sharon Meadows—aka Hippie Hill—is as well known for its post-party mess as it is for the yearly toke. This year, sponsors including Green Door and Hemp20 are funding much-needed improvements to support the clean-up. Expect more port-o-potties, food vendors, medical emergency services onsite, and increased security. Party on, Wayne (only more responsibly this time). // Golden Gate Park (Haight), 420hippiehill.com
Psycho Donuts @ The Guild San Jose
Taste free cannabis terpene-infused donuts compliments of Psycho Donuts and the dispensary Guild San Jose, who have extracted the essence of cannabis and infused it into the frosting of Homer's favorite sweet treat. We're told these donuts smell and taste like weed but lack the actual psychoactive effects. Wondering what's the point? You can also sample marijuana strains provided by Guild Extracts. // 4-7pm at The Guild, 2943 Daylight Way (San Jose), guildsj.com
Flower Power Party
Office downtown? Knock off work for a very happy hour at Flower Power Dispensary where the 4/20 celebration includes a taco bar to sate your munchies. Sample cannabis-infused treats such as cookies from Derby Bakery and sativa gummies from Kushy Punch. Bring your valid MMJ card and ID, and don't forget to RSVP. // 2-8pm at Flower Power, 70 2nd St, (SoMa); rsvp at eventbrite.com.
A Different Kind of 4/20 @ Harvest
Party like it's 4/20 all day long at both of Harvest's stylish locations with hourly raffles, sushi and dabs, cannabis-infused mocktails, and tastings and meet-and-greets with local cannabis producers including Flow Kana, Golden Goddess, Rancho Relaxo, and Hashman. The raffle's grand prize winner will take home a choice selection of Harvest goodies as well as a Bud & Breakfast getaway. // 9am to 10pm at Harvest on Geary, 4811 Geary Blvd. (Inner Richmond), and Harvest off Mission, 33 29th St. (Bernal Heights), harvestshop.com
Gathering of the Tribe @ Slim's
Psychedelic rock bands Moonalice and Doobie Decimal System return to Slim's for their 420 Gathering of the Tribe show. Each attendee will take home an original commemorative poster—look for 21 unique designs from artists Wes Wilson, Stanley Mouse, David Singer, and Lee Conklin, as well as a pairof screen prints designed by Alex Fischer and Gary Houston. Expect a night of art, freeform jams, and a live performance of the Moonalice single "It's 4:20 Somewhere." // Slims, 333 11th St. (SoMa); tickets ($5-$35) available at eventbrite.com.
Free BBQ @ Hood Incubator
The Oakland nonprofit Hood Incubator aims to combat the stigmas often associated with cannabis use, as well as educate budding entrepreneurs on how to transition into the legal market. Swing by their HQ today—the first 75 guests will enter free, and all after are asked to give a $1 donation (though no one will be turned away for lack of cash). Donations will support the organization's goal to increase the participation of people of color in the cannabis industry. Go learn about the mission and eat some free barbecue, hear live music, and get cannabis policy and industry updates. // 3:30-7pm atCity Slicker Farms, 2847 Peralta St (Oakland); register in advance at eventbrite.com
