Acclaimed author Michelle Tea is one of SF's great characters, a queer role model whose quirky writing, including four memoirs and regular pieces for The Believer and McSweeney's, reflects a wide range of interests. She's also a performance-art fan who revived the all-girl tour Sister Spit, touring the world with her multi-gendered incarnation "Sister Spit: The Next Generation." Having made some fascinating art out of the workings of her own life, Tea is now offering a chance for aspiring writers and performers to learn memoir-based performance from her in an intensive workshop. Open to artists of all ages, mediums, and levels who are comfortable with public performance, "Performing Your Life" aims to find middle ground between the worlds of performance and text. Tea will lead students in exercises designed to help them find inspiration in their own lives, culminating in an invitation-only performance by the class.
