The up-and-coming artists of the Academy of Art University now have a sophisticated space to showcase their talent to the world, alongside established San Francisco tastemakers, in the Academy of Art University Atelier in SoMa.
In a hybrid retail-gallery at 79 New Montgomery Street, the clothing, home decor, visual artworks and even computer games made by current students and alumni will live here, and if you wander in and see something you fancy, you'll be giving a talented artist exposure and helping benefit the University's Student Scholarship Fund.
They're culling some of San Francisco's best to fill the walls, shelves and mannequins. Here are just a few names to get you going: women's clothing will come from gr.dano and Camilla Olson, sculptures by Calvin Ma and Killean Evans, men's denim by GRP-E Denim, paintings by Jenn Hendricks and Sarupa Siddarth and dozens more. Even the Atelier's fixtures and displays wre created by an alumnus, Tyler S. Bradford. Who knows? Maybe you'll help discover the next big thing to come out of the city by the bay.
Open Monday through Friday 10 am-6 pm, Saturday 10 am-5 pm.
