Your guide to the tastiest foodie happenings going down this week. Bon Appetit!
Chef-Designed Dinner Delivered
Prepare to cook up gourmet goods in your very own kitchen. As part of Luke’s Local’s new guest chef program, which connects regular people with meals designed by some of their favorite restaurant chefs, you can now have one of the 2014 Big Eat items delivered to your door. Merigan Sub Shop Chef and Owner Liza Shaw designed a dinner-in-a-box for Bay Area residents. It’s a play on her signature sub — the Arista (roasted and braised pork, sharp provolone, rapini, hots) — and it includes Arista Pork Chops from Llano Seco Farms, Mariquita Farms Rapini, Merigan Hots, Josey Baker Polenta, onion, garlic, lemon. The kit (which includes the raw ingredients and the recipe) is available for pre-order now through May 11 via Luke’s Local. Expect the kit to arrive the week of May 12. And look out for next month's special pairing from Slow Club's Matt Paul. Order here.
Beer and Wine Trail at SFMade
Follow the boozy brick road around San Francisco during SFMade Week (May 5 - 11) to hit up every special event involving San Francisco's best independent wineries and breweries. Bluxome Street Winery will be offering mini-workshops and galleries of delight along with gourmet truck fare, Speakeasy and Magnolia Brewing (see the new space!) are hosting factory tours and tastings every day of the week, Anchor will be hosting a special tasting, and stop for beer and chocolate pairings at Whole Foods. See all your imbibing options here.
American Craft Beer Week
It's a beautiful time to live in San Francisco, where we have the best homebrewed craft beer flowing from hundreds of local taps. You can celebrate American Craft Beer Week (May 12 - 18) by tossing one back at any of our local brewpubs, but Rogue Ales Public House in North Beach is really getting in on the festivities with a week's worth of beer events. Be on hand for the tapping of one of their more popular braggots, Rogue Midnight Nectar, and stay to meet the newest brewmaster in the city at Fort Pointe. Peruse all the events here.
Fine Wine and Foodie Walking Tour
Take all of the work out of planning a weekend getaway with the new Healdsburg Fine Wine & Foodie Walking Tour package, which includes one night at the Healdsburg Inn on the Plaza, and 25 percent off any of the popular Wine Country Walking Tours in Healdsburg. Choose between the New Flavors of Healdsburg Tour (a sampling of the hot spots currently making headlines in the culinary press) or the Healdsburg Wine & Gourmet Food Lovers Tour (an in-depth discovery of the town’s food and wine offerings). Arrive hungry for either four-hour tour, they feature plenty of winery tastings and food stops, with generous sips and samples. Schedule a tour here.
