Pooch-Friendly Partying at the Westin

By

If you're tired of hitting the town sans pooch, here's your chance to paint the town red with Fido in tow. At the Westin St. Francis' "Dogs Days of Summer" on Aug. 26, canines and their owners will be treated like VIPS (Very Important Pets and Persons) in an event benefitting the San Francisco SPCA.

Dogs will get a taste for the luxe life of Tinkerbell (Paris Hilton's famous Chihuahua) as they walk a red carpet riddled with "pawparazzi." Then, they'll head into the Grand Ballroom where DJ Josh Dukes will be spinning tunes, and servers will be handing out signature "Salty Dog" cocktail and nibbles to their owners. (Dogs, of course, will be treated to their own special Purina gourmet snacks.)

Posh pet boutique Cheeko B will sponsor haute hounds doing a twirl on the catwalk, and those who want to memorialize the occasion can have portraits with their pooches snapped by a resident photographer. Event organizer SPCA will have an on-site adoption center for those looking to expand their clans. There will also be raffles for the Westin Heavenly Dog Bed, as well as "doggy bags" full of goodies to take home with you. (No roaming Rovers; all dogs must leashed.)

Admission to the event, which runs from 6:30 to 8pm on Wednesday, Aug. 26, is $25, and tickets can be purchased by calling the SPCA at 415 522-3564 or logging on to www.sfpca.org. Tickets will be on sale in advance until the day of as long as supplies last, but they're going fast, so buy them while you still can.
