Whether you're staying in town for business or, better yet, for pleasure, here are a host of classic San Francisco hotels that have been recently refreshed for your overnight pleasure.
This SoMa hotspot (President Obama held a fundraiser here during his last trip to SF), the W Hotel just introduced a brand new event space and terrace, along with a modern fitness "gym" called FIT. Perched on the terrace of the hotel, the concept gym is dripping with natural light from a massive skylight ceiling. The epicenter of FIT is a central seating structure and self-serve bar area with rings of color-changing light fixtures. Workout equipment hugs the perimeter. The vibe is amped-up and sexy. Mercifully, both men and women's showers are located at the gym. Riding the elevator back to your room in sweaty gym clothes or a robe will be a thing of the past. 181 3rd Street

Now the iconic bar/lounge at the Mark Hopkins is getting a (much-needed) makeover by one of the country's greatest designers, Ken Fulk. Expect sleek, chic decor, coming in early 2015. The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco Club Level
First the fine folks at the Ritz Carlton changed up their restaurant and gave us the ultra-sleek Parallel 37. Now they're undergoing more change on their lux Club Level. Both the suites and Club Level lounge will get a major refresh in shades of silver, blue, and cream with natural wood accents. Coming soon in early 2015. 600 Stockton
