With spring on the horizon, local boutiques are doing whatever it takes to make room for the new season’s inventory. What does this mean for you? It means ridiculously low prices on fall items. On a mid-afternoon jaunt to Hayes Valley this rainy weekend, I was pleased to discover that my favorite boutiques were all participating in this mass clothing exodus, urging even the most reluctant shopper to drop money on reduced high-quality items. At boutique and nail spa hybrid Azalea—where price cuts were up to 70% off retail price—I purchased a ruffled gingham Trovata dress and could have purchased much more. The chic Euro-centric shop Nida—which carries lines like Cacharel and Vanessa Bruno—is offering half off on all merchandise (excluding jewelry) and down the street at Dish, where I shop for great basics and flirty party attire, much sought-after items like Citizens for Humanity denim, Rebecca Taylor blouses and Rag and Bone jackets were on sale. If that’s not enough, head over to Gimme Shoes for high-end shoes, boots and accessories at affordable prices. Usher in spring with a sale or two, or three ....
