Last weekend, we called upon personal stylist and full-time mom, Kelly Werner, to show us a few holiday party looks. We photographed her with her greatest accessory -- her adorable son, Bey -- at their home in the Mission.
What Kelly wore: Vintage brocade dress, purchased at the Vintage Fair; Report Signature black leather wedges, purchased from Nordstrom; House of Harlow necklace; Vintage earrings; Burberry ring, purchased from Net-a-Porter; Hair cut and color by Kien Hoang, owner of Umbrella Salon in San Jose.
What Bey wore: Shirt and pants, purchased from Zara; Puma sneakers.
What she wore: Maje navy jumpsuit, purchased from Bloomingdale's; Claire Hummel necklace, purchased from BellJar; Zara studded leather clutch; Yves Saint Laurent suede pumps.
"I call home anywhere my husband and son are, which currently is in the Mission, so I am spoiled with everything I love, including food and fashion."
"Bey will be two in January, but he's an old soul," said Kelly. "He is constantly teaching us new things, and reminding us of the most important things in life: To love and laugh daily."
What she wore: Grandmother's vintage fur hat; Wildfox Couture top, purchased at Azalea; Topshop skirt, purchased at Nordstrom; Christian Louboutin nude pumps, gift from her father; Blue watch from Anthropologie; Gold heart necklace and Tiffany's gold band and diamond solitaire ring, all were her mother's.
Seven Style Questions for Kelly:
1. What's in your bag?
What's not in my bag? NARS hand wipes (as I am a bit OCD about germs), L'Occitane hand creme (to moisturize my over-washed hands), Bey's baseball (he's a pitching prodigy), a necklace or ring (as Coco Chanel said, always take off the last thing you put on. I just happen to do it when I'm running out the door!), and whatever I happen to be reading (currently, Bukowski's "Tales of Ordinary Madness").
2. I like a man in...
While I can appreciate fashion on a man, there is nothing like a guy in a pair of faded old Levi's and a soft t-shirt. I about died one evening when my husband picked me up from work downtown for a Giants game -- I walked out to find him sitting on his Ducati, wearing a pair of Levi's, a white t-shirt and his aviators (by Salt, of course). I literally stopped to stare at him and etch that moment into my heart.
3. What products do you swear by?
I use to be a product whore, but now I am more aware of everything I put on my skin. I use Caudalie products because they are natural. I also love VinoPerfect Radiance Revealing Mask with Brush Applicator -- I feel like I'm at the spa getting a facial each time I use it. My guilty pleasures are my hair products though. I don't pick up a brush or hair dryer without using Oribe's Moisturizing Cream -- it protects against heat damage and leaves my hair silky smooth.
4. What's on your holiday wish list?
A pair of Burberry studded leather gloves to wear with the Burberry Prorsum velvet quilted blanket coat, and anything Celine this season.
5. What's your greatest style advice for moms?
Always take time to put yourself together. I remember when I was pregnant, women would tell me they never took off their sweats, and one woman said she couldn't even put on lipstick. I can understand not having the energy to, but fashion was what saved me. When I was tired from being up with Bey all night, or didn't like my body the first few months after delivering, I could always count on my Louboutins to carry me through. When I threw on some mascara, shadow and gloss with a cute outfit, and was complimented, it made it all worth the struggle to get out the door!
6. If you could only wear shoes from one designer, who would it be?
I can't answer that. It's like asking who my favorite child is (if I had another child). But if my closet speaks for itself...Christian (Louboutin) never disappoints.
7. What's your SF Top 5?
How about 7?
