It’s unlikely that any of the diners attending Rick’s Supper Club event at Jack London Square’s Bocanova two nights ago had any clue what was in store for them at the South American Wine Dinner besides platos and vino. But Miami-based LAN Airlines had something else in mind: Four dinner courses by Chef Rick Hackett—with highlights like Wild Shrimp & Lobster Ceviche in a spicy passionfruit curry, Quinoa & Grape salad dressed with white balsamic vinaigrette, and tender “Estofado” Braised Beef with julienned winter vegetables—were followed up by a special announcement that all 200-plus patrons would receive a free round-trip ticket to South America.
The Oprah-style reveal celebrates the company’s offerings of the only non-stop flights to the continent from SFO. “We are committed to introducing more U.S. travelers to wonders that can be found only in South America,” said LAN Vice President Pablo Chiozza. "We couldn’t think of a more exciting way to start the New Year than by giving our patrons the opportunity to see South America for themselves,” said chef-owner Rick Hackett. “At Bocanova, we offer dishes that are inspired by the unique flavors of such a diverse and beautiful continent. Now our patrons will have the chance to let themselves be inspired by the region’s sights and charm.”
In lieu of falling ill with jealousy, get in on the action by connecting with LAN on Facebook and Twitter. They’re giving away more free flights by the hour from January 25-30.
Rio, anyone?
