Road bikes are so passé. Or so says Arizona-based startup company Kolelinia, who wants to revolutionize urban travel with the Halfbike – a half bike, half Segway mode of transport that claims to seamlessly combine cycling and running. 

Although the idea of swiveling down the street via adult tricycle doesn't appeal to me personally, those worried about male numbness or bad posture can rejoice at the possibility of standing upright while cruising through the city. Just be warned, Halfbike is not meant for steep hills (aka not meant for life outside of SoMa or the Mission). 

On the brighter side, the foldable "bike" is small enough to take on BART without causing a riot, comfortably fits into elevators, and can even reside near your desk during the workday. And Halfbike does look rather agile in the video as the rider hops over stairs, and smoothly steers around pedestrians.

You can preorder a Halfbike via their Kickstarter campaign – bikes will be shipped out this summer – for $899. But if you're still skeptical you may want to wait for a test ride during the forthcoming Halfbike tour.
