A Canine Cafe Is Coming to San Francisco!

By

You might not have a furry companion of your own, but at San Francisco's upcoming Canine Cafe anyone can sip coffee while cuddling adoptable dogs. The best part? This non-profit cafe is run by an animal shelter, so even that cup of coffee is a good deed.

New Mexico-based NextGen Shelter Project is joining forces with Innovative Dog Training and Education to create the nation's first training center-shelter-cafe hybrid in Canine Cafe—an updated animal shelter model designed to help adoptable pets find homes in the community. The project, which is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, is planning to open locations in San Francisco, San Diego, Albuquerque and New York City, with the New Mexico location opening next month. Each location will operate as a small-scale animal shelter as well as a place to hang out and sip coffee with the pooches.

With a dog cafe in the front and canine training center in the back, the project aims to create a financially sustainable shelter. Plus, city dwellers will get to spend quality time with some cute puppies—what more can you ask for?

Want to make sure the Canine Cafe makes it in SF? Donate to their Indiegogo campaign before December 31st.
