This summer, the Marin Center is transforming Lagoon Island on the fairgrounds into a free open-air roller rink—and everyone is invited to the party.
Roller Disco Daze turns up the music every Wednesday through Sunday from July 17th through August 16th in San Rafael, bringing five weeks of pure retro joy to one of the Bay’s most scenic spots.
With Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Marin County Civic Center rising in the background, this is not your average rink. Hosted with David Miles, Jr., San Francisco's legendary "Godfather of Skate" and founder of the Church of 8 Wheels (554 Fillmore St., Hayes Valley), the rink brings the same infectious, feel-good energy that made his San Francisco roller disco a Bay Area institution.
Expect themed nights, lawn games, art installations, DJ beats, and a good time. Catch the sunset over the lagoon, grab tacos from the food truck on-site, then skate it off under the stars for a full evening of fun. Admission is free, and skate rentals, including kids' sizes, are available on-site for $5. (All skaters must sign a waiver; skaters under 18 require a parent or guardian signature.)

Just 15 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, and close to downtown San Rafael's restaurants, breweries, and shops, Roller Disco Daze is the perfect excuse for a trip to Marin.
Whether you grew up doing laps under a disco ball or you're strapping on skates for the very first time, the rink welcomes all ages and all skill levels. Grab your crew and get skatin’.
