Scenes of the City: Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
The Golden Gate looms in the distance as the swimmers swim from Alcatraz and toward Crissy Field.
Andy Potts celebrates as he comes to the finish line.
We rose early on Sunday and made our way down to Marina to capture the harrowing Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Swim, bike, run and do it as quick as possible. This year's winner, Andy Potts finished the 1.5 mile swim, 18-mile bike and 8-mile run in just under two hours. Badass.

I did this amazing race on Sunday and took my video camera along w/ me for the swim. Thought you all might enjoy what the swim looks like in 6 minutes!
When I first heard about this race, I thought the swim portion was absolutely insane and anyone who swam it was nuts. It's funny how things can change. One of my biggest fears in life is now one of my most incredible joys. This race (especially the swim) is truly the funnest, yet most challenging triathlon's, I've ever competed in.
Cheers, Perry
