Such classic cinema as Out of Africa and Indiana Jones romanticized the image of rugged men toting well-worn luggage on breakneck adventures. Octovo, a new collection of leather travel accessories by San Francisco–based industrial design studio Ammunition, approaches the market from a calmer, but no less masculine, place. With pure silhouettes unencumbered by extraneous buckles or straps and featuring minimal titanium hardware, automotive-inspired industrial stitching, and supple Italian leather, Octovo’s wallets, personal electronics cases, and 48HR weekenders (shown here in amber) are handsome, yes; enduring, of course; and sophisticated, absolutely. Witness, if you will, the birth of a legacy brand. “Travel in the 21st century should be unhurried and relaxed. Our designs emobody that kind of ease,” says Matt Rolandson, principal of Octovo and a partner at Ammunition. “But if the shit’s gonna get real out there, we’ve got you covered.”
