Vintage Wine Tasting with Delgadillo Cellars Winemaker
We realize we didn't give you much notice, but we hope you'll catch this column in time to drop by West Coast Wine Cheese on Wednesday to meet Winemaker Ignacio Delgadillo Jr. from Delgadillo Cellars. West Coast will be pouring 2-ounce tastes of his vintage 2001, 2005, and 2006 Napa Cabernets from 6 to 9pm for $30 per flight, and Delgadillo will make the rounds with guests to discuss his passion, his wines, and his family's rags-to-riches story. Rock Star Winemaker Holds Court at Causwells
"Renaissance Man" is a woefully inadequate descriptor for Maynard James Keenan. The winemaker, actor, record producer, and vocalist for Grammy-winning progressive metal band Tool is more than a jack of all trades. He's a trailblazer on the viticulture scene, getting new AVAs listed in Arizona and finding out which grapes grow where the best. Keenan will be holding court at Causwells this Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30pm. Stop by for a $15 flight of three wines from his Merkin Vineyards label (yes, that Merkin), including the White Chupacabra Blend, the Chupacabra Rose, and the Chupacabra Red. Two of his higher-end Caduceus label wines will also be available by the glass for $20 each, or $20 for a taste of both the 2012 Primer Paso Syrah blend and the 2012 Anubis Cabernet Blend from Luna county New Mexico. 2346 Chestnut Street
Drink Your Way Through the Dogpatch
There's a party in Dogpatch this Friday, and if you look closely, you're likely to find us bouncing from bar to bar, drinking our way through the Dogpatch Microhood, starting at 6pm. Likely watering holes include Dogpatch Saloon, Serpentine, Triple Voodoo Brewing, Yield Wine Bar, and Oberon Design & Manufacturing, where they're bringing in a beer and wine bar to complement the artwork and home furnishings. You might also spot us at Gilberth’s Rotisserie Grill, partaking in a half-price bottle of wine and a complimentary appetizer. Spend the afternoon singing along to campfire songs, competing in the Family Olympics, joining campfire storytime, and making a sleeping bag for your cellphone.
