Foreign Cinema Turns 18

Foreign Cinema will celebrate its 18th anniversary with a Venetian carnival–themed party. There'll be plenty of Venetian street bites, piazza-style food stations, wine, and specialty cocktails. The entertainment lineup includes a burlesque show, performances by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Heklina, and Mother. Best of all, co-owners Gayle Pirie and John Clark are donating the proceeds from ticket sales to the Human Rights Campaign, which advocates on behalf of the LGBTQ community. // 7–11 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2534 Mission St. (Mission). The Tastemaker Collective Lands in SF

The London-based Tastemaker Collective celebrates cultural exchange through food by offering a collaborative dinner series around the world. This week, Tastemaker arrives in San Francisco to put on some amazing dinners: Parisian chefs Rafael Gomes (Grandcœur) and Juan Arbelaez (Nubé) will be doing a one-night, seafood-centric collaboration where classical French meets modern Mexican. Hong Kong's Matt Abergel (Birdyard) will be bringing his take on the modern izakaya to Rich Table. James Lowe (Lyle's) will be flying in from London to do a seasonal multi-course dinner with wine pairings. There'll also be a grand party on Saturday, September 30th at Fort Mason featuring food and drinks by Michael Cimarusti (Providence) and Henry French (Petit Marlowe). // Multiple venues; for more information and tickets, go totastemakersf.com

Peru + India = Food Love

La Mar is celebrating its ninth anniversary with a series of dinners in collaboration with the modern Indian restaurant Rooh. Chef Sujan Sarkar will be doing six courses alongside chef Victoriano Lopez. Courses include pani puri paired with Peruvian-style nigiri, duck shami kebab with cebiche, seabass curry with grilled octopus. Wine pairings are available to help you power through. // Thursday, September 28, La Mar, Pier 1 1/2 (Embarcadero), Get tickets here.

New Chefs at the Perennial

The mid-market restaurant focused on sustainability and reversing climate change through food has new co-chefs Anthony Myint (Mission Chinese Food) and Michael Andreatta (Commonwealth) at the helm. Eater got hold of the menu, which will continue to have á la carte options as well as a chef's four-course menu, with whimsical and playful additions such as trout confit with an everything beignet, an Apocalypse slider, a vegetable barbecue platter, and more. // 59 9th St. (SoMa), theperennialsf.com
