It’s harvest season and Napa Valley is up all night: Bright spotlights move up and down vineyard rows as pickers relieve the vines of their heavy load, literally running from vine to vine, clusters of fruit piled high. Tractors rumble, generators hum, workers sing and shout and the smell of fermenting grape juice hangs heavy in the cool, midnight air.
But wait, where can I get a burger and a cold glass of beer, you ask? Well, you're in luck.
Fagiani’s at The Thomas: The bar menu, which includes a burger, of course, but also their famous BLAT (get it with a fried egg) is served until 12 am every day. To drink: the perfectly blended negroni, served on tap.
1313 Main: On weekends, Lulu’s Kitchen at the winebar 1313 Main offers their “secret menu” (burger, poutine, chicken wings) until midnight. It’s also the best wine selection you are likely to find at that hour.
Goose & Gander: should you find yourself at the north end of the valley after 10 pm, you have literally one option (not counting the stale potato chips on the bar at Ana’s Cantina). Goose & Gander’s bar menu serves what was one bartender calls “the best burger in the world” (bacon, bone marrow, gruyere) until midnight seven nights a week.
Morimoto: The lounge at Chef Morimoto's Downtown Napa outpost can get downright rowdy. For sake cocktails, kimchee quesidillas (until midnight on weekdays and 1 am on weekends), this is the place to see and be seen.
