We recently paid a visit to a 25-by-136-foot cluster of trees and foliage in SF's Tenderloin. Sporting the clever name The Tenderloin National Forest, this oasis is nestled between a cluster of residential buildings and hotels as a welcome sanctuary in the midst of the gritty neighborhood. Formerly known as Cohen Alley, the small urban enclave is not really a national forest (duh) but what used to be a dumping ground for trash and drug paraphernalia.
Check out this gem for yourself on Ellis Street, between Leavenworth and Hyde. Hours: Wednesday - Saturday 11 am- 3 pm
