Need a sweet date idea? Churn your own ice cream at Smitten


Forget buying chocolate or bringing flowers. This Valentine's Day, do something memorable with your special someone.

The Bay Area's own Smitten Ice Cream—which San Franciscans already know well for its fresh, churned-to-order ice creams made with local and seasonal ingredients—is celebrating the sweetest holiday with a special party at their Mission shop.

Show yourself a good time or bring a date to churn your own ice cream sundaes; the hardest part will be choosing from toppings galore.

Need some direction? Try starting with Smitten's limited-edition Vietnamese Coffee ice cream made with beans from fifth-generation Petaluma roaster Mountanos Family Coffee. Then, top it with Guittard chocolate sauce, toasted almonds, and organic whipped cream. Or, follow your own heart to craft a unique masterpiece. (The milk chocolate brownie is also a nice base, but you wouldn't go wrong opting for a fresh-baked waffle bowl either.)

After Smitten's master Brrristas teach you the art of making the perfect, ultra-creamy scoop, you'll sip Champagne cocktails between bites of ice cream.
