Breaking news: It's snowing in Golden Gate Park! Seriously, folks—there's some snow a-fallin' inside the California Academy of Sciences, and that's not the only festive touch happening at The Academy this year. Celebrate the holidays with a geeky twist at 'Tis the Season for Science.
For the inner child in each of us, you can meet a pair of live reindeer (did you know they can see UV light?) before watching Santa himself suit up in scuba gear and swim with the fishes inside the coral reef exhibit. And you won't have to trek to Tahoe to see brilliant snow flurries—the center of the museum transforms into a winter wonderland twice every hour.
Once you've had your fill of the flakes, get nice and toasty in the balmy four-story rainforest full of birds and butterflies, not to mention the virtual safari tour of Africa. Once you've warmed up, head back into the chill of the frozen tundra in the reindeer exhibit, then step inside the giant Snowman Theater. And, it wouldn't be the holidays without the appearance of Santa Claude, the Academy's infamous albino alligator mascot. Just don't lure him under the mistletoe.
Explore the California Academy of Sciences this December and early January for all the holiday sights, sounds, and snow you can handle. Happy Holidays! November 26 - January 4. 55 Music Concourse Drive.
