Sweet Treat
David Lebovitz, author (and former Chez Panisse pastry chef) has decamped from his home in Paris to spread the word about his new book, The Sweet Life in Paris. He'll be at Fog City News on September 25 from noon until 2 p.m., spreading the chocolate, macaron and cannelle gospel. The event is free, but bring some coin for Fog City's superlative selection of chocolates.
The Butcher Shop
If you're ready to get your hands dirty, sign up for one of Ryan Farr's classes on September 27 at La Cocina. For $95 you can take a morning Sausage Making 101 class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (and plan to take home 6-7 pounds of various sausages) or, for the same price, join in on an afternoon lamb butchery class from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (the take-home from this class is 8 pounds of delicious meat you butchered yourself!). Wine and Cheese for Ewe and Me
Before they take a break for the holidays, Bar Bambino is hosting one more cheese and wine class and tasting at the restaurant on September 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. The topic this time: Italian red wine and sheep's milk cheeses of all types. Monday Meal
Melissa Perello (chef-owner of the soon-to-open Frances) is hosting another one of her Monday night dinners at Sebo on September 28. The meal is a chance to taste Perello¹s food in advance of her restaurant's opening, but it's also a benefit for Soul Food Farm, which is still recovering from a devastating fire. Some of the proceeds from the four course, $55 meal will be donated directly to the farm. There are two seatings, one at 6 p.m. and the other at 8:30 p.m.; to book your spot email Monday_night@me.com
