Baycation in Oakland
Hook up with the Oakland Art Murmur & Broke-Ass Stuart for a special celebration of summer and Oakland Art Murmur’s weekly Saturday Stroll Art Walk. The event will take place under the sun at Classic Cars West's outdoor beer garden. Artists John Casey, Crystal Morey, Max Kauffman and Jon Carling will be on-site to lead a range of art activities alongside Late Night Art, and Microsoft will be merging art and technology, showing people how Lumia devices make the process of capturing, editing and uploading photos uniquely artistic. Food and beer will be available for purchase on-site, from Commonwealth Cafe & Public House.

Cal Academy's First Photo Exhibit
Unique and stunning photographs of the natural world will be on display at Cal Academy for the first time this week. Their first photo exhibit will display winning images from the Academy’s inaugural BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition—Cal Academy received over 6,300 photographic submissions from award-winning nature, wildlife, and conversation photographers from around the world, and the top 45 were selected to be in the show.

A Cerebral Celebration
A cerebral celebration in honor of the new Burning Man art installation, SOMA, on Pier 14 is being held Friday with a presentation by the artists, the Flaming Lotus Girls, special guest speakers, live entertainment, and a lighting ceremony. The sculpture will remain at Pier 14 for two years.

Pongapalooza!
Get your paddle’s ready. The Pongapalooza will include both regular and “Berlin-style” ping pong tournaments on the Rio lawn, along with prizes including a paddle signed by Susan Sarandon, whose film “Ping Pong Summer” will be screened that evening. Food and drink from the cafe will be accompanied by DJ Samala spinning old school hip hop from the 80s and 90s on the lawn.

Free Movies in Jack London Square
Cozy up on the Oakland waterfront this summer for free outdoor screenings of hit movies, as part of Jack London Square’s Waterfront Flicks series.
