Weird Art in Bars: Lucky 13

Weird Art in Bars: Lucky 13

By

I'd argue Lucky 13 is the best bar on this stretch of Market Street (sorry, Blackbird), simply for its spot-on, old-school jukebox, delightfully unfancy drinks (and awesome beer selection), street cred and chilled-out, rough and tumble vibe. On an especially lucky night, you can catch musicians who've just played Cafe Du Nord during an after-show drinking binge.

The punk, garage and metal that blares over the speakers complements the art lining the walls, which are mostly whacked-out rock 'n' roll show posters done by the great Alan Forbes. Forbes is responsible for the album artwork of The Black Crowes, Queens Of The Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine, White Stripes, The Misfits and many more musical legends. Homemade murals decorate the rest of the walls, depicting skulls and psychedelic, bleeding hearts. It's definitely a place that'll always be open when you need to drink your troubles away.
