Help Rebuild the Iconic Land's End Labyrinth

Help Rebuild the Iconic Land's End Labyrinth

By

You might remember that the iconic Land's End labyrinth was destroyed by heartless creatures earlier this month, leaving not a single rock behind for the hundreds who flock to the location to find a little peace and serenity. But now, the caretaker of the labyrinth has picked a rebuild date.

The labyrinth, which was originally created by Eduardo Aguilera in 2004, was destroyed in the middle of the night on August 11. The many rocks that were carefully organized into 11 concentric circles were thrown into the ocean, leaving behind only the outline of the labyrinth traced in the dirt.

After the incident, the labyrinth's keeper, Colleen Yerge, was overwhelmed with emails and calls from people expressing their love for the place and encouraging her to rebuild the beloved landmark, which had been partially damaged in the past, but never fully deconstructed.

Now, Yerge is inviting anyone who is willing to help carry rocks to join her on the morning of September 13th to mend the installation that has served so beautifully as both an artist's statement and, for some, a transport to zen.

//  Want to help? Head to Land's End from 10am to 5pm on September 13. Bring water, bag lunch, a jacket, a backpack for carrying rocks, and a smile.
