Sand-Written Wedding Proposal at Ocean Beach
Photos by Jamie Shiller
Publicist Sasha Vasilyuk sent me these photos of a wedding proposal over the weekend and I can’t stop thinking about them. Does anyone out there know Kelly, who proposed to her, and what she answered?
Here’s what we know: A friend of Vasilyuk came upon the graphic proposal over the weekend at Ocean Beach and snapped these pictures. As the photos show, it’s an amazing work of sand art topped with the words: Will you marry me Kelly?
It must have taken someone hours to create the beautiful pattern. I’d love to get the full story—how he or she made the design, how long it took him or her, and how Kelly reacted. Click below to enlarge the photo for its stunning detail:

If you know the artist or the (hopefully) bride-to-be, email me at maryjo@chdmag.com.

What a nice surprise for her! It is so unique! Congrats to the couple!
This is real.
well its a nice story but where is the Artist info, does he has a website, facebook ? how much he chrages for a design like this... tell us more about Amador
Definitely real. Along with Andres, a group of five of us (all good friends of the bride/groom to be) created this over the course of about three hours. Very fulfilling and fun.
Wow, that Andres guy must have some time on his hands!
Definitely the work of ANDRES AMADOR! I personally had the pleasure of watching him create a beautiful piece near Stinson Beach a few years ago believe me, its real and its amazing to see being created in front of your eyes! He's a really nice guy too!
They are friends of mine. She said yes. They're a great couple. We can tell you more if you like. :)
This is real, I saw it the morning they were making it and saw the guy propose later in the afternoon. It was not over the last weekend. It happened the weekend before valentines day 2/12 or 2/13.
It looks like the area known as "Kelly's Cove." Not sure where the name came from, but it's been around for over 50 years. (end of Ocean Beach at the Cliff House)
It IS real.
there''s no way this is real... basic graphic design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
creative, original and romantic. marry him!
I agree with Anonymous - if you flip through the work there is some very similar pieces - I bet if you contact andres he can tell you who it commissioned him.
Look like the work of Andres Amador http://www.andresamador.net/
that is just so romantic!
That is amazing! I can't wait to hear more.
