Three-story architectural gem on Sausalito waterfront asks $6 million

If you've ever been to Sausalito, you know that Bridgeway is its beating heart—the boulevard that winds between the town's many cutesy shops, galleries, and increasingly good restaurants on one side and the picturesque waterfront on the other.

A leisurely drive here may stoke ideas of escaping the city for a more relaxed lifestyle across the bridge; and if you've got the bucks in the bank, this centrally located modern home, built in 2010 by Sausalito-based architecture firm Michael Rex and Associates, would do the trick.

The house was featured on the American Institute of Architects' 2012 tour in Marin, and it's no wonder: The towering structure sits over 50 feet high with the first living levels starting at 30 feet above grade. Panoramas of the water can be taken in from floor to ceiling windows on all floors, allowing the indoors to flow in; while smart-home tech offers seamless integration of all your devices.

The first level spans an open, entertainment-style floor plan with a chef's kitchen with concrete countertops, large gas cooktop, dine-in breakfast bar, and custom wood-slat ceiling. Alongside is a formal dining area nestled against a stone accent wall and illuminated by lantern-style pendants, and dramatic living room with gas fireplace. Soaring windows fill the space with natural light along with intelligent design—Nana walls retract, opening up to an outdoor kitchen, hot tub, and southern-exposure patio. Rounding out the main level is a powder room.

Up the floating stairs are two bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathrooms. Peer down into the living room or the bay from the loft-inspired catwalk. The views only get better as you ascend the abode. On the top floor lies a built-in corner office with mini bar, integrated espresso machine, oven, sink, and mini fridge. Around the corner is crown jewel—the master suite immersed in a picturesque diorama of the water and San Francisco skyline. Pop out onto the private deck to take it all in, or just enjoy the scenery from bed. In the bathroom, another balcony awaits, complete with sand beneath your feet. Afterward soaking up some sun from your private beach, slip into the jacuzzi for soak, or clean up in the rain shower with body jets. Then, grab a robe from the heated towel wrap and cozy up to the master fireplace. This is living.
