After the El Tesoro tequila anniversary party and the Family Winemakers tasting, my poor liver was more than ready for some serious detox; but the beer-drinking gods, however, had different plans.
After turning down free booze on the plane (hint: fly Horizon) and walking out of a pretty cool wine bar at the Seattle Airport, I couldn’t resist the sharp marketing efforts of the Big Sky Brewing Co. As a writer, names like Moose Drool and Trout Slayer make drinking the beers irresistible (that’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it). After much deliberation, we opted for Trout Slayer Ale our first day, and Moose Drool Brown Ale and Summer Honey Seasonal Ale on the day we finished our nearly 30-mile backpacking trip.
Nothing beats a beer and a shower after a grueling workout—be it a few days of camping and hiking or a long bike ride. Here in SF, if I ride out to Alpine Dam or Nicasio or even to Tiburon and back, I find that nothing quenches my thirst and fuels me like a pint. It turns out that Moose Drool is on tap at Amnesia and Taylor's Refresher. And BevMo carries all the beers, including Summer Honey.
