Christmas in July at The Yard
It's never too early to celebrate Christmas with beer. Anchor Brewing is tapping a special cask (and the first prototype) of their highly anticipated Christmas Ale this Thursday afternoon at The Yard at Mission Rock, next to AT&T Park. This will be the first tasting available to the public, and you'll be able to conduct your own side-by-side comparison with a pint of last year's Christmas Ale, which will also be available. The holiday party starts at 3pm. We dare you to wear a Santa suit. // 3rd St & Terry A Francois Boulevard, San Francisco, theyardsf.com

Go Old School on your Gin Gimlet
Once upon a time, a Bluestem Brasserie bartender wondered, "Why would you order a Gin Gimlet with gin when you can have one made with Genever?" The result is the More Cowbell Gimlet, made with Diep9 Young Grain Genever, cucumber, mint, lemon, lime, and St. Germain. Genever, which is produced exclusively in France and Germany, is the predecessor of gin, featuring the familiar flavor of juniper berries. This drink offers a refreshing flashback to an earlier era. // One Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, bluestembrasserie.com
