Editors' Picks: Diamond Halloween Suits, Lena Dunham's Book, & More

7x7 editors reveal what they're salivating over this week.

Not That Kind of Girl, by Lena Dunham

In the interest of full disclosure, I’m not a big fan of Lena Dunham. I think she’s highly self-involved, entirely too naked, and her hit-show Girls, is very white. BUT I adore this book. A series of essays that chronicle everything from her crooked uterus to her fake Internet boyfriend that died (with doodles) it’s a harrowing and hilarious book filled with lessons every girl has to learn at some point.

Vensette

All too often I find myself rumpled and barefaced at the end of a jam-packed workday, with mere minutes to somehow get party-ready. In answer to my office-bathroom prayers, Vensette—the mobile-based Uber of hair and makeup launched in 2011 by Lauren Remington Platt--landed in SF last week... just in time to transform me from working girl to social butterfly for a black-tie at the Legion. My makeup artist, Charla, arrived at my desk, armed with kits full of color palettes and a simple-to-understand menu of illustrated beauty looks. I pointed at the classic face called CEO, and in just 30 minutes, the telltale signs of a madcap day faded away. You could call it a miracle, but I'd call it a must. See for yourself by downloading the app. Come the holidays, you'll be very happy you did.

$1.6 million diamond Halloween costume

Shine bright this Halloween with a simple, unassuming suit made up of 70,000 diamonds. Using skin-tight spandex and covering the entire body with jewels, this gem of a costume is far more alluring than that tired sexy cat costume you pull out each year. Twinkle, twinkle.

Bedraggled Dogs

Nothing pulls at my heartstrings more than a disheveled pooch. I find them irresistible. This conehead munchkin is available for adoption at the Peninsula Humane Society, where Schuy and I volunteered yesterday. Once he’s rid of that unsightly contraption he’ll be nothing but cuddles. Did you hear me? NOTHING BUT CUDDLES. How could you ask for more? Shelter dogs for the win.
