On July 28, the Wine Women & Shoes Napa Valley event lit a spark of awareness and compassion for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, benefitting Napa Emergency Women’s Services. The event was an overwhelming success for NEWS. Over 300 guests celebrated and honored their support for NEWS during an amazing afternoon of wine, shoes, and fashion at Charles Krug Winery. The benefit raised over $80,000, all of which will be delivered directly to NEWS.

“Never in the history of Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) has there been such an outpouring of support as there was at the WWS event this past Saturday, July 28,” claimed Tracy Lamb, Executive Director of NEWS. “From the food, wine and Marketplace vendors, to the amazing Shoe Guys, everyone was in the spirit of working for a cause so near and dear to my heart, helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. I was incredibly moved by our guests… The power of women helping other women is a wonderful thing, and the guests at WWS gave with all their hearts.”

Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) provides a nurturing refuge for women and children suffering from domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and is a catalyst for change through prevention, intervention, and advocacy. Each year, Wine Women & Shoes (WWS) Napa Valley hosts an unforgettable event to help raise much needed funds and awareness for NEWS.

NEWS is not just changing lives today, they are altering the paths of women and children for generations to come. NEWS has a proven record for fiscal responsibility, and continues to utilize the funds that are entrusted to them in the most productive ways possible. NEWS plans to use the funds they received from this year’s WWS event to enhance and build upon their current services, as well as continue to make improvements to their shelter. The post-event buzz is contagious and spreading like wildfire, with many already talking about the next event in 2013.
