If the doom and gloom of another Monday morning has you already dreaming up weekend plans, take heart: this Sunday's Rock for MS will give you plenty to look forward to. Serving as the major fundraising event for MSFriends, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis, this year's Rock for MS takes place at The Boom Boom Room and features guitarist Roy Rogers.
Not only will you get a great live show, but all proceeds go to MSFriends, so you can feel good about your investment. For just $25, you can kick back and enjoy the show and receive a bonus complimentary cocktail. Up the ante with a $50 premium ticket, and you'll get an exclusive limited edition Rock for MS t-shirt featuring a Jim Marshall photo of Roy Rogers, signed by both Rogers and Marshall. Feel like splurging for a good cause? Only twenty $100 VIP tickets will be offered, and the lucky few will receive a Polaroid of themselves, taken and signed by Marshall himself.
MSFriends was conceived under the leadership of VisionWorks Foundation president, Amelia Davis, and inspired by Jim Marshall, one of the world's renowned rock music photographers and the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Lucie Award.
Also available at the show will be the first two books in critically acclaimed author Deborah Grabien's new JP Kinkaid mystery series: Rock and Roll Never Forgets and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The series, rooted firmly in Bay Area rock, is narrated by JP Kinkaid, a superstar guitarist who suffers from MS. Grabien, who has MS herself, will be on hand to sign and dedicate copies of her books. Anyone who attends the show will have the chance to purchase both books, as well as the signature MSFriends guitar pick necklace for just $50 (a retail savings of $20).
The event takes place at The Boom Boom Room (1601 Fillmore at Geary Blvd.) this Sunday, September 20 at 7:30 PM. Head over to MSFriends.org to purchase tickets and start looking forward to the weekend.
