Sneak Peek: Autodesk's Pride Parade Float Honors @KarlTheFog

While the annual Pride Parade is always worth celebrating, this year we're especially excited to see some of the innovative floats that will head down Market Street.

San Francisco design company Autodesk, famous for inventing AutoCAD and being outstanding in all areas of 3D software, is sending their own float down Market Street to celebrate and support the LGBTQ community. Together with their employees, Autodesk has designed a float inspired by the San Francisco landscape and our all time favorite meteorological character, Karl the Fog.

In cooperation with float builder, EastWest Floats, the float is sure to be an homage to our beautiful city and all the people who live in it.

We had the chance to peek into Autodesk’s Workshop at Pier 9, where employees enjoyed after work ice cream floats and DJ tunes while crafting panels to be attached to the float’s base.

The laser-cut panels all carry a quote about what pride and diversity mean to Autodesk’s employees all over the world.

“How exciting that we have been able to live the ideals that the company promotes to its users. We are collaborating within groups of employees, meeting new people through the design process, generating excitement and support for the LGBTQ community at the company, and using our own design tools to develop this fantastical, whimsical float that will carry our own quotes and photos into the parade," said shop manager J. Sassaman

While the float needed some final finishing touches after we left, we are super excited to see it in its full bloom strolling this weekend at the Pride Parade.

The Pride Parade takes place on Sunday, June 28, at 10:30am at Market & Beale and ends at Market & 8th Street in downtown San Francisco.
