Christmas in July at The Yard

It's never too early to celebrate Christmas with beer. Anchor Brewing is tapping a special cask (and the first prototype) of their highly anticipated Christmas Ale this Thursday afternoon at The Yard at Mission Rock, next to AT&T Park. This will be the first tasting available to the public, and you'll be able to conduct your own side-by-side comparison with a pint of last year's Christmas Ale, which will also be available. The holiday party starts at 3pm. We dare you to wear a Santa suit. // 3rd St & Terry A Francois Boulevard, San Francisco, theyardsf.com

Tres Sabores Winemaker Dinner at Presidio Social Club

If you prefer a wine dinner to a keg party, make reservations now for Thursday's multi-course winemaker dinner at Presidio Social Club. Executive Chef Wesley Shaw's menu will be paired with Tres Sabores Owner and Winemaker Julie Johnson's wines and centered around her own farm-raised lambs and produce. The four course dinner begins with an appetizer and cocktail reception at 6:30 and ends at 9:30 after a dessert of Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb paired with 2011 Petite Syrah. Tickets are available online for $125 per person, including dinner, wine, tax, and tip. // 562 Ruger Street, San Francisco, presidiosocialclub.com

Saturdays Unplugged with Drake's Brewing

Would you like a side of beer with your Shabbat? Bring the whole family to the Jewish Community Center on Saturday afternoon for the last "Saturdays Unplugged" event of the summer. In addition to a complimentary beer tasting with Drake's Brewing and Happy Hour pricing on beer and wine, you'll be treated to a live set from Hot Buttered Rum String Band, a ukulele jam with Emily Bonn, a drop-in Mah Jongg parlor, and paper airplane making activities. The fun begins at 3pm and continues throughout the afternoon. // 3200 California Street, San Francisco, jccsf.org

Go Old School on your Gin Gimlet

Once upon a time, a Bluestem Brasserie bartender wondered, "Why would you order a Gin Gimlet with gin when you can have one made with Genever?" The result is the More Cowbell Gimlet, made with Diep9 Young Grain Genever, cucumber, mint, lemon, lime, and St. Germain. Genever, which is produced exclusively in France and Germany, is the predecessor of gin, featuring the familiar flavor of juniper berries. This drink offers a refreshing flashback to an earlier era. // One Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, bluestembrasserie.com

Outdoor Happy Hour at Precita Park Café

Even when it's cloudy and cold in your neighborhood, the sun is often shining in Bernal Heights. That makes Precita Park Café's outdoor seating the perfect place to enjoy happy hour. Every day from 4 to 7pm, you'll find draft specials on beers from Local Brewing, Almanac, Magnolia, Lagunitas, Trumer Pils, and Deschutes Brewery. If you can't choose just one, pick your top three for an $8 flight. // 500 Precita Ave., San Francisco, precitaparkcafe.com
