A VIP Evening with Trumer Pils

A VIP Evening with Trumer Pils

By

A few weeks back, 7x7 asked you to vote for your favorite place to enjoy a cold summertime Trumer Pils in San Francisco. The grand prize —which included a private tour of Trumer Brauerei Berkeley, followed by a private dinner prepared by Oakland's Tribune Tavern—was claimed by lucky devil Peter Norman!

Peter brought four of his friends to the famed brewery in the East Bay to enjoy a detailed walk-through of the facility led by Master Brewer Lars Larson. The independent brewery was started in 2004, and was twinned with a sister brewery in Austria. The malt used here at the West Coast is imported from Salzburg, Austria (while the hops hail from Austria and from Germany) to keep our local brew's flavors consistent with Austria's. The VIP guests also learned the technique for "The Perfect Pour," and shared a beer (or two) with Lars.

The evening concluded with a private dinner in the tasting room prepared by Oakland’s Tribune Tavern, with a menu designed to pair well with Trumer Pils. Courses included pork belly rillette and chicken liver pate starters; warm winter grain salads; grilled pork sausages with polenta and braised spigarello; and a brûléed pear cheesecake!
