B.R. Cohn Fall Concert

Sunday was a day of rock n’ roll among the vines at B.R. Cohn Winery on Old Sonoma Highway, Sonoma. I ventured to the winery-turned-rock venue for day two of a weekend of music and fundraising. The 250-seater amphitheatre was packed to the gills with music lovers and wine lovers who rocked, rolled and swirled to the sounds of the day.

This annual event, now in its 20-plus year, raises money for all manner of Valley of The Moon charities as well as the National Veteran’s association. Winemaker and rock manager Bruce Cohn hosts this annual music fundraiser, which to date has raised more than a million dollars.

The spirit of the day was giving. A charity auction between sets saw autographed guitars go under the hammer for thousands a piece. Each band on the bill kindly donated their talent and time.

Los Lobos were a personal highlight, bringing every single person to their feet for a rousing one-hour set.

The Taj Mahal Trio was the surprise of the day, singing the blues under sunny skies to a crowd that ate up every little note. “Ride that pony” sang Taj at some point during almost every song! Read into that which you will.

It was a wonderful day of music and giving. Thank you, Bruce Cohn and crew, a day not to be forgotten too soon!
