SF Judge Refuses Bid To Block Health Soda Warning Label Law, cbslocal.com
A federal judge in San Francisco refused Tuesday to grant a preliminary injunction blocking a city law that requires advertisements for sodas and other sugary drinks to carry a health warning label. Unless it is successfully appealed by beverage and advertising industry groups to a higher court, the decision by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen means the law will go into effect on July 25 as scheduled. Bison Calf in Viral Facebook Post Euthanized After Being Rejected by Herd in Yellowstone National Park,ktla.com
A sad update to a story that seemed at first to be a simple mishap. A father and son were reportedly ticketed at Yellowstone National Park after they placed a bison calf in the back of their SUV in an attempt to protect it from the cold, KTLA sister station WDAF reported. A mother chaperoning a school group that witnessed the calf in the vehicle posted her account on Facebook, which quickly made the rounds on news sites and social media. While their heart was in the right place, the father and son were unaware that bison are well-suited to exist in that environment and did not know the effect their actions could have on the rest of the herd. Petaluma's Cowgirl Creamery Sold to Swiss Company Emmi, pressdemocrat.com
Petaluma's Cowgirl Creamery, an early leader among the North Bay's artisan cheese makers, has been sold to Swiss dairy giant Emmi, the owners announced Monday. "We have merged our company with Emmi, with the idea that it's the best way to keep it going and growing," said co-founder Sue Conley, who started the company with partner Peggy Smith nearly 20 years ago. The two, who owned 80 percent of the business, will remain at Cowgirl as co-managers, with Smith as president and Conley as vice president. Read more.

A spy photographer has come across a fleet of all-electric Chevy Bolts in San Francisco today that appear to be equipped with arrays of self-driving sensors, a sign that GM is already testing the electric cars that could be ferrying Lyft passengers around without drivers sometime in the next year. Seven little lambs wearing colorful coats were recently filmed kicking up dust as they hoofed it to get their breakfast at an animal sanctuary in Tasmania. "The Breakfast stampede........whatever you do don't get in their way," FreeHearts Animal Sanctuary posted to Facebook with the adorable video Thursday. The babies frantically race toward the person holding the camera in anticipation of milk but find only four bottles readily available.
