Chanel is usually considered more ladies who lunch than hip-hop. But at the private Neiman Marcus Chanel trunk show I stopped by last week in Union Square to view the 2007/2008 Cruise collection, I spotted this amazing navy sequin hooded robe that is so very Beyoncé on a yacht in San Tropez. The rest of the aviator-themed collection—originally presented in typical Karl Lagerfeld flair at the Santa Monica Airport in May—was also surprisingly young and playful, dominated by knit mini-dresses, high-waisted wide-legged pinstriped jeans and other separates in navy, black and white. There I am in the background, eyeing the model south of her ankles for another warm weather must-have: hot patent coral d’Orsay sandals. Is it spring yet?
