Ferry Plaza Seafood Launches Happy Hour Menu
There's a new Happy Hour in town, at Ferry Plaza Seafood in North Beach. The seafood-centric dining destination just launched a Monday through Friday Happy Hour from 3:30 to 6 pm, with last call at 5:30. Stop in for $4 beers, $5 bubbly or wine, and raw oysters for $12 a dozen or $7 per half-dozen. You'll also encounter a rotating selection of seasonal appetizers and small plates, such as sashimi ($12), New England or Manhattan chowder ($4), and prosciutti de parma with grilled seasonal fruit ($10). 653 Union Street
Fall Wine Tasting Series at Local Kitchen and Wine Merchant
Local Kitchen and Wine Merchant in Rincon Hill is kicking off a Fall Wine Tasting Series this Friday from 4 to 6 pm. They'll be breaking out some Napa favorites for the occasion, and pairing them with cheeses for $5 per person. This week's offerings include Mumm Napa Brut Rosé, Swanson Vineyards Pinot Grigio, Hoopla Napa Valley Cabernet, and Lang & Reed Cab Franc. Local Kitchen also just revamped their cocktail menu, so you needn't limit yourself to wine and cheese alone. Burritt Room & Almanac Host Collaborative Tasting Event
Join Jesse Friedman of Almanac Beer Company, and Chef Luke Knox of Burritt Room + Tavern for a collaborative tasting event at Berlinetta Lounge this Friday, from 6 to 8 pm. This exclusive tasting will feature a three-course menu prepared by Knox and inspired by three of Friedman's unique seasonal beers. Saison Dolores will be paired with local halibut, lobster mushrooms, crustacean butter and porcini broth. Golden Gate Gose will be served alongside seafood ceviche with corns and radishes. Almanac India Pale Ale will be paired with Almanac beer-braised pork belly "apple pie." Friedman will be on hand to discuss pairing selections and provide tasting notes while mixing and mingling with guests. Drink Porchbier on the Patio at Monk's Kettle
Speaking of Almanac Beer Company, they've recently developed the perfect beer to drink on the brand-new patio at the recently re-opened Monk's Kettle in the Mission. Porchbier is a session Saison that is more refreshing than sour. Made with wheat berries from Front Porch Farms and dry-hopped with Amarillo and Sorachi Ace hops, it provides an imminently quaffable complement to the abundant sunshine and people-watching opportunities provided by the 16th street corridor. The patio at Monk's Kettle will accommodate 20 people at 5 tables and is open from noon to 10 pm daily on a first-come, first-served basis. Another Oktoberfest at Park Chalet
Believe it or not, there is still more Oktoberfest to celebrate, this Sunday at the Park Chalet Garden Restaurant in Golden Gate Park. You can dance to your heart's content from 3 to 6 pm, thanks to live entertainment from Blow Musik!, a traditional German "oompah" band. Bavarian barmaids will be serving sausages made from scratch, and you can drink like a German, from a 34-ounce Ocean Beach Oktoberfest decorative beer stein. Whether or not you can actually finish off a full liter of Chalet Master Brewer Alan Deorsey's special Ocean Beach Oktoberfest ale (5.4% abv/25 IBUs), they'll let you keep the stein as a souvenir. 1000 Great Highway
