Although we’re not known for being a fashion capital here in San Francisco, we are home to not only some of the most formidable fashion eccentrics but also discerning style-conscious shoppers who aren’t necessarily seeking out a cookie-cutter look that’s dictated by the desire to acquire the next It bag or of-the-moment designer. Instead, savvy San Franciscans are best known for their love of one-of-a-kind defining pieces that are individualistic and uniquely their own—that’s not to say that we aren’t into a quick trip to H&M for that ubiquitous trapeze dress or that new Mulberry carry-all from Bloomingdales, but you get the point. This madcap-meets-the-classics approach to style is something that SF is famous for, so it’s no wonder that Thread, the traveling fashion event and sale that features local designers, boutiques and artists, is coming to Fort Mason on Saturday, September 22. This isn’t your average shopping event: Thread boasts a great lineup of designers like Stussy, She Bible and Upper Playground in addition to a 50 percent off denim lab, a sneaker bar courtesy of Shoe Biz and Adidas and an art show with live silk screening. To get your style mojo moving, there will also be a hosted bar all day long as well as music provided by DJs Kaptain Harris and DJ Roots. Whether you are a full-fledged SF style maven or a budding fashionista, come to Thread to shop, get down and find that new item that will have everyone in town talking.
