Foodie Agenda: Truffles, Crab, and More

Thursday, November 7

Attention truffle lovers! Perbacco is celebrating the white truffle with a limited-time menu highlighting the earthy, sensual flavor and fragrance of the prized tubers from Piemonte, Italy. Every dish will be served a la carte with three grams of truffles shaved tableside. A peek at the menu reveals Jerusalem artichoke custard, raviolo filled with polenta and hen egg, and braised oxtail. Saturday, November 9

Can't wait to sink your teeth into turkey? Lucky for you, Lower Haight hosts a pre-Thanksgiving fiesta with treats from neighborhood merchants. Sample goodies from 4505 Meats' forthcoming BBQ eatery, imbibe cocktails from Maven, and sate your sweet tooth with a scoop of Three Twins Ice Cream. The party music's provided by DJ Oly. Toast the season as Spoonbar’s favorite local winemakers from Preston, VML, Front Porch Farm and Idlewild pour a selection of their unique cellar wines, while chef Louis Maldonado cooks bounty from their ranches, fields and farms for a family-style meal. The 2nd Annual Crab Catch at Nick's Cove happens this weekend with various crab-centric activities available for crustacean-lovers of all ages. Participate in a Tomales Bay crab-catching competition (free and open to the public), watch a cooking demo with executive chef Austin Perkins, or drink at a crab-infused cocktail “Crabby Hour.” Special Dungeness crab-centric menu items will be available all day. Tuesday, November 12

In honor of all of the amazing local specialties available in Half Moon Bay, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company hosts a one-night only Harvest Dinner. The four-course dinner features a local specialty in each course including local sugar pie pumpkins, cheese from Harley Farms, freshly caught Dungeness crab, and Markegard meats.
