The Family House Superbloom Gala will be held on Saturday, May 18th at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco.
The annual gala is a beloved night of celebration, connection and support among the board, donors, volunteers and friends in the Bay Area. The party will feature a festive cocktail reception, gourmet dinner with amazing wines, a finely curated live auction, plus music and so much more. For over 40 years, Family House San Francisco has served as a pediatric guesthouse and a home-away-from-home for children being treated for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. If you’re going to a Warriors game or a concert at the Chase Center, you will pass by the five-story, orange-colored Family House building at Mission Bay Boulevard North and 3rd Street. Every night, Family House serves more than 80 families and more than 4,000 kids and family members a year who are going through the hardest times in their lives.
The gala theme, Superbloom, represents new growth. A superbloom is a bright, wild and surprising wildflower bloom that you can see happening all over California from space in the spring. Blooms are everywhere in our community; all of us together create spectacular superbloom that grow the impact of community, care, compassion, sanctuary and keeping families together so that children can heal.
This year’s gala will honor a group of volunteers who showed unwavering commitment to Family House during the COVID pandemic. These individuals were essential to the organization's mission, going above and beyond to contribute extra care and services during such an uncertain time. Collectively, this group has contributed over 2,000 hours of their time to support Family House.
All event proceeds will fund direct services provided to the families, including temporary housing, meals and amenities for families with a child being treated for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. All services are offered 100 percent free of charge for more than 4,000 kids and family members each year, thanks to generous donor support.
