Here Are the 32 Public SF Spots That Just Got Free Wi-Fi [Map]

The fine folks at Curbed SF bring to our attention that, on Wednesday, San Francisco just scored a slew of free Wi-Fi hotspots in public locations—32 of them, to be exact. It's all due to a $600,000 gift from Google to the city's Department of Technology, who spent most of last year testing and installing. Wireless connectivity is, at last, no longer a luxury.

"Benefits of the free Wi-Fi service include expanding programs utilizing the service at recreation centers, improving registration for public programs and boosting communication among city employees," reports SF Examiner. "It also begins to address what may seem like a glaring absence in a city that likes to bill itself as a center for technology and innovation."

Another bonus? Not having to dash into the nearest Starbucks and order a grande of swill just to check urgent work email.

The above map shows you were the hotspots are located in the city. We should point out that not all spots are up and ready just yet; Dolores Park and Boeddeker, for example, won't be up and running until early 2015. The rest of the parks, however, are ready for hordes of laptop-carrying denizens to browse and download to their hearts' content. Sweeping vistas and taking in nature be damned!

To connect to "#SFWiFi," follow these easy steps:

  1. Select the WiFi network named "#SFWiFi"
  2. Launch a web browser
  3. Click the button to accept the terms and conditions
