Where to Stay Near the Bay Area Venues Hosting Super Bowl, World Cup, and Other Major Events

By

All of a sudden it seems like the Greater Bay Area is a nexus for every major sporting event ever invented.

The Super Bowl and World Cup coming to our neck of the woods is the perfect opportunity to make the most out of the games by adding an overnight (or two?) nearby. What’s not to love about avoiding traffic and parking the day of?

For a full-on sports-themed getaway, here are a few fun spots to stay near our biggest venues in the Bay.

Where to Stay Near Levi's Stadium

Even if it's too late to book a Super Bowl-adjacent stay, Levi’s Stadium (4900 Marie P. DeBartolo Way, Santa Clara) is a crown jewel for maximum capacity events. With the venue hosting six matches from the FIFA World Cup, including five group fixtures in June and one knockout game in July, plan now for a few days up the road at Tetra Hotel, Autograph Collection (400 W. Java Dr.) in Sunnyvale, a stone's throw from the VTA light rail line. In just minutes you will be at the gates of Levi’s, leaving you plenty of time to pre-game with a great French toast sando or chicken katsu for brunch at the onsite restaurant Adrestia—and to return for a few precise Japanese whiskey highballs at the lobby bar Nokori afterwards. TETRA’s Park & PreGame package includes parking and breakfast for two, a $40 daily food and beverage credit, and two daily light rail passes to use during your stay. It's a VIP experience for any event at the Silicon Valley stadium.

Where to Stay Near the Chase Center

Mission Bay is full of big stuff: buildings, healthcare, and the Chase Center (1 Warriors Way) but, up until recently, not much more in terms of tourism. However, with Luma Hotel (100 Channel St.) now just six blocks from the Chase Center, the door for a sporty staycation just opened wider. Get your plans in order for March Madness to opt into their amazing VIP Basketball Experience, where you can get two tickets to see the game from the hotel's very own Club Suite. Once there, you’ll have balcony access, a catered dinner, and drinks. The package also includes premium accommodations at Luma and golf cart transportation to the game if you’d rather not walk. Bonus: the hotel’s Cavaña rooftop bar is fun anytime.

Where to Stay Near Oracle Stadium

Just around the corner is Oracle Stadium (24 Willie Mays Plaza, South Beach), named by Forbes as the most beautiful ballpark in America. There are plenty of hotels nearby, but Hotel Via (138 King St.)—directly across the street in South Beach, at the crossroads of the Embarcadero, SoMa, and Mission Bay—has extra scenic viewing from its rooftop bar. The hotel recently announced a new partnership with Giants Enterprises to offer a ton of behind-the-scenes opportunities for guests, events, and meetings. Their Grand Slam Package includes accommodations at the hotel plus a tour of the stadium to glimpse the luxury suites, dugout, press box, and field. Their VIP tour package can even get you in to watch a live batting practice. Afterwards, enjoy a complimentary cocktail at the Rooftop at VIA bar.

Where to Stay Near the Oakland Coliseum Arena

Across the Bay sits the Oakland Coliseum Arena (7000 S. Coliseum Way). Skip the disaster of a traffic and parking situation and post up at the Kissel Uptown (2455 Broadway), the only elevated boutique hotel in Oakland that puts you in the heart of downtown’s culinary riches. A 20-minute rideshare trip can get you efficiently to the game (or concert) from the neighborhood, where you’ll find a tapestry of food, some of the coolest cocktails around at Viridian (2216 Broadway), or some highly-educated coffee at The Crown (2523 Broadway). And with word that the Oakland Soul and Oakland Roots soccer club’s training facility in Alameda will be a FIFA base camp, it’s fun to think about being so close to the action. Even more exciting is that FIFA has chosen a potential hotel for themselves to stay at, maybe perching up at our very own iconic Claremont Resort & Club (41 Tunnel Rd.) in Berkeley, which just underwent a massive renovation. Perfect timing!

If your fandom brings you to Sacramento for a game at Golden 1 Stadium (500 David J. Stern Walk), book a room at the Kimpton Sawyer (500 J St.) next door. Their King for a Day package (available until April 30, 2026) not only includes accommodations with a straightaway view of the Golden 1, but also a $50 gift card to the Kings Team Store and a $100 food and beverage credit for in-room dining or their buzzy on-site lounge, Revival. The hotel also provides complimentary valet parking and late check-out based on availability. Another option for watching a game is booking a Showdown Suite with up to 10 of your friends. The private penthouse room has multiple TV screens, plus a menu of Revival cocktails and in-suite shopping for team apparel.
